“Folk Club” isn't really the best way

to describe this music venue!

Firstly, it's not a club in the sense

that you need to be a member:

you're more than welcome to come

along at any time to listen. There's

no membership and there’s usually

no need for tickets in advance.

Secondly, the music that's heard

covers much more than the term

“folk” might suggest. There have

been whole evenings of jazz, blues

and pop while traditional tunes

and self- penned material, country

ballads, standards, songs from

shows and monologues have all

been enthusiastically received.

It’s mainly an acoustic venue but

sometimes we use a PA to enhance

the quality and balance of the sound.

We have three formats for a night's

entertainment and there’s usually

one of each sort every month.

We hold Performers' Nights when we

are hosts to anyone who wants to

sing, play or even recite! Performers

arriving well before 8 p.m. are always

guaranteed at least two items. We

welcome first-timers and old hands

alike: everyone will enjoy a warm and

supportive reception. And of course,

you're very welcome to come & listen!

On Feature Nights we have top local

artists who play two half hour sets.

We also hear other performers who

have arranged to play beforehand.

Thirdly, we have Concert Nights when

we have the best traditional, contem-

porary and comic performers such as

Dave Swarbrick, Harvey Andrews and

Les Barker. For concert nights, tickets

are available in advance since some

guests can sell out beforehand.

Do come and try it: high quality, varied

music for a small outlay and you can

be sure of a very friendly welcome!
